Today we began a unit on poetry. Poetry is a way a person expresses feelings or emotions by using rhyme or rhythm. I don’t like poetry because they are hard write, confusing to understand, and not very entertaining. We read Love That Dog by Sharon Creech.
Pause #1: Don’t be afraid to show your talents, even if you think it’s girly.
Pause#2: Some people like different things. In this case, he likes longer poems than shorter ones.
Pause#3: If you find an interest in something, it’s easy to write something about it.
Pause#4: Read stories, and you’ll be able to write stories. Read poetry, and you can write poetry. Never be afraid to put your name on it. Show your work to the world.
Pause#5: Find an inspiration to write poems. It could be your favorite poet or a pet.
Pause#6: If a sad event takes place in your life, write poetry about. It’s a good way to relief your sorrows. Once you’re done with your poem, type it up and make it look fancy.
End: You can keep writing good poetry until you write famous poetry.
Jack got his inspiration from reading other poetry in school, pets, and his favorite poet, Walter Dean Meyers.
Here’s my poem inspired by Love That Dog.
Jack and Jesse
I have a dog named Jack
He likes to eat dog treats and human snacks
Jack has a friend named Jesse
He lives with my Nana and Papa and is so fluffy
